{Wedding Beauty} Lash extensions - an affordable splurge for the wedding

Anyone who knows me knows I am not a super girly-girl, but I did get excited about this: lash extensions. As someone who can never seem to keep mascara on, this is a revelation! I haven't had this done yet, but our faithful friend Andrea Hoyt at August Veils, lived to tell the tale of meeting with Midori Debow, lash expert:

"She learned her trade in Japan over 10 years ago. She relocated here to Portland with her husband...Midori is very meticulous and truly stands by her work.  She even checks back with you the next day to make sure there are no harsh reactions to the adhesive. 

Midori decided to use a style of hair that had a natural upward curve to it.  The shape of my eyes would make the lashes point downward.  What I liked was the way she thoroughly explained the process so I understood what she was about to do. 

Asian women, hell, all women, rejoice! Raccoon eyes could be a thing of the past!"

It would be so nice not to worry about crying off your mascara during the wedding...and they last for several weeks before you need a refill, so you can enjoy your fluttery lashes on honeymoon as well.

My dream wedding venue...

One post won't be enough to enumerate all the qualities of my dream wedding venue, but every time I work a wedding, I think of one more thing that I would add to the list. 

Today that thing is rigging points.  With today's more sophisticated brides and grooms, the decor and lighting needs have become more creative and complex.  Often, I am bringing in specialty lighting, whether it's pinspots to highlight each table centerpiece, or a custom treatment to hide an ugly airwall in a ballroom.  Or sometimes it's a certain prop, such as a crystal chandelier, or luxuriant drapery to transform a room completely or create a divider where there was none before.

This lighting or decor has to attach to something, and that's where rigging points come in.  These often exist in the ceiling, and can be built in, or can be brought in by the event services company.  My dream wedding venue would have existing rigging points and offer diagrams showing their exact locations and how much weight they can hold...so I can pinspot, hang chandeliers, and drape to my heart's content!
