My uncle was diagnosed with celiac disease in his late 60s. Imagine going all that time not knowing that wheat and gluten were causing you problems! Now, it seems we hear of many more people with some form of gluten intolerance, so it's always nice to hear of a place that can meet their needs, especially for an occasion such as a wedding.

Cindy of Cravin' Raven Organic Bakery contacted us the other day to let us know her shop had opened in Sellwood and is expanding its catering operations. She told us a little about her products: "I use agave for a sweetener and everything is organic except for some of the flours that I use in the gluten free products."

Rite in the Rain: A Very Portland Wedding Favor

Favor alert!  I was strolling through Powell's Books the other day and came across these cute little all-weather notebooks from Rite In The Rain.

Can't think of very many things that would be more Northwest-y to give to your guests than this!  A waterproof notebook in which they can record their thoughts about the weekend, the wine tastings they might go to during their visit, or important names and numbers as they catch up with friends and family.

The great thing is, the fiber is from FSC Certified sources, printed with soy ink, the covers are made of post-consumer content, and the whole shebang is made in USA in the Pacific Northwest. You can even order custom imprints and sizes.

Color Scope: Electric Plum

Spring is here, and I am in love with the spring plums. I like to call it "electric plum" because it seems to have more energy than plain old purple.  It's not exactly purple, there's a little warmth, a bit of pink and raspberry in there.  This would be a great main color with ivory, gold, silver, or graphite as the neutrals.  You could even throw in some chartreuse or a bit of spring green. Darling!

"Saturday" Roundup!

OK, apologies for the slight delay on Roundup this week, due to Portland #snowpocalypse 2008!  We do have the goodies for you this afternoon though!

We're still a little bit obsessed with the weather lately.  What to do in case of weather-related cancellations or delays?  For the majority of Portland weddings that occur between March and October, really bad weather is not usually a concern. Of course, all outdoor weddings should have a bad-weather plan (including one for too-hot weather), but we're not usually thinking of roads closed and flights cancelled. I know lots of Portlanders like to hit Dosha for the manis, pedis, waxing and such, especially around bridal time.  Here 's a great tip:  If you attend one of their holiday parties in December, you receive a complimentary VIP card for 10% off services pretty much all year round.

"tatooed" favors...with laser!

We just came across the coolest favor/wedding gift idea and had to share it with you.  Best part is, the company that came up with this idea is local, right here in Portland on NW Thurman!

It's called Tatuit, and they use laser technology to etch any design you want, from a monogram to even a digital photograph, onto just about any surface you like.
