Come check it out! This is also where The Portland Wedding Coordinator Blog has found a permanent home. It's hard to believe we've been writing this blog for *gasp* 12 years! We've seen technologies, venues, and vendors come and go, and it's been so interesting to document how people wed in our area, the beautiful Pacific Northwest. 

We decided to combine all of our blog interests into one place, and cover Weddings, Destination Event Travel, Corporate Events, How-Tos, and Advice to the Events Industry. Ambitious maybe, but when your company has been around for 20 years, it's time to look for more challenges, and never stagnate, only innovate. Happy 20th Anniversary to EJP Events!

We've planned special events from Portland to Boston, from Minneapolis to Texas, throughout this time. We added (back!) our conference and corporate event planning departments in 2009 -- Corporate is where our love of events started in 1997, so it only made sense to come full circle and serve our most loyal customers with our signature creative and inclusive style. 

So even though we haven't been super active here on Typepad, this site will remain as an archive -- feel free to browse our posts going back to 2007. And then roll with us into the future over on ejpevents.com.

Wedding Shows in Portland, Oregon for 2017

Due to the extreme weather at the beginning of the year, many of the annual wedding showcases in Portland were postponed to much later dates than usual. Tough for the vendor participants who have to re-plan for the new date, but great for you couples who are just getting started on your wedding planning for 2017 and 2018!

Tonight kicks off at 6:00 pm with the grand re-opening of AniA Bridal in Downtown Portland. (This event is 21+)

And then all this weekend, the Portland Bridal Show is at the Oregon Convention Center. 

Bigger trade shows not your thing? Then definitely check out The Luxe Bridal Event in March, and Portland Monthly's ROCKED in April.

{ Local Love } Quin Candy

If you are looking to deck out a candy bar, stuff scrumptious sweets into guest bags, or just take a break from planning and treat yourself, make sure to check out Quin Candy.  All of their candy is made in-house and the ingredients are sourced locally when possible.  They have an array of caramels, lollipops, and chews with unique and delicious flavor profiles like maple and cracked pepper caramels and smoked cola gumdrops.  Their Best of Oregon Caramels are crafted with Oregon grown hazelnuts, local honey, and salt from the coast.  You can visit their store on SW Stark or find these treats in shops around town.  If you don't live in Portland you can also order these confections online.  Just make sure to get enough to share!

It's certianly not hard to love Andina, but many people are not aware that they offer a private dining option Tupai, as well.  This is a great location to be able to enjoy amazing food in a beautiful setting for your next event.

{ Local Love } Fun rehearsal dinners and small party venues in Portland

Today's installment of Local Love features the amazing Dayna McErlean's sister restaurants on NE Killingsworth - DOC and Yakuza. As different as different can be, DOC is an Italian kitchen with a changing set 4- or 5- course menu each night; while Yakuza is a Japanese-izakaya-influenced lounge.

What I love about each restaurant: DOC's homey, long-tables, family-style service that makes you feel as if you walked into your Italian grandmother's kitchen, even if you don't have an Italian grandmother. What the wedding planner in me loves is the reasonable, afforable rates for buying out the restaurant on a Friday night for a rehearsal dinner.

At Yakuza, I really enjoyed the Asian fusion menu items, including a Wasabi Martini and a Pear Jalapeno sushi roll, but what really wowed me was the secret hot tub in the backyard. I think it would be so fun to rent out the restaurant for an over-the-top bridesmaids luncheon or couples shower.

McErlean also owns The Colony St. Johns for weddings and larger events, and Dash Commercial Kitchen, so within her culinary empire you have lots of interesting choices.
