Indoor Weddings

Outdoor weddings aren't the only option in Oregon. In the Portland area, we are lucky to have many gorgeous ballrooms, loft spaces, theaters, warehouses, and even some quirky locations like bank vaults where you can hold your indoor event and not worry one whit about the weather. We're including photos of churches and temples in this album as well. Sometimes, for a Portland wedding, only the ceremony or only the reception may be held indoors. We've also thrown in a few weddings we've done out of state, to keep things interesting!

front page of style me pretty!

I adore Abby Larson's wedding style blog, Style Me Pretty.  So it was pretty exciting to hear that she featured one of our weddings on the front page of SMP this week.  You can take a look by clicking below...

we are so bummed...

...to hear that the darling Villa Roma gown store in Oahu, Hawaii is closing down, after having been in business for 41 years.  Just today we had a bride come in sporting a gorgeous, non-traditional wedding gown from Villa Roma.  Apparently the store is yet another victim of the changing economy.

But, we do know that you, the bridal public, love to go to Hawaii, and we want you to know that Villa Roma will be open until July 31 at the Ward Warehouse, Oahu location.  So if you're vacationing there, or will land in Oahu for your honeymoon in the next month, please go see Audrey and her cute little boutique before it closes!

cute save the dates!

I subscribe to Melissa Jill's newsletter and I just love these save the date cards that she just posted.  Of course it helps if you have a fabulous engagement photo!

accessibility

Medicalcongress93 courtesy Clara Natoli, http://claranatoli.blogspot.com/ clarita1000@gmail.com Is accessibility on your site selection checklist?  It's not always something that you as the bride and groom may be thinking about.  Often, high on the site "gotta haves" are things like a gorgeous view, good chairs, and a good selection of caterers.

However, with so many people of varied ages and needs in most families, perhaps some thought should be given to the accessibility of your wedding event sites.  And that's not just limited to the ceremony and reception -- think also of your rehearsal dinner, bridal luncheon, goodbye brunch, or any other events to which you might have guests attending with accessibility issues.

The most common issues are older folks -- think Grandma and Grandpa, your Auntie coming from abroad; anyone who might have trouble with a flight of stairs, a steep stone path, or uneven walkways.  Think about any of your family or guests who have recently had surgery or medical treatment that might make walking or longer distances between sites a potential problem.

Putting a little bit of forethought into the accessibility of your chosen site can help a great deal in making sure all of your guests, including those with physical challenges, feel welcome and comfortable at your wedding.

Outdoor weddings

  • Downtown Portland cocktail hour
Here are a few of the outdoor weddings EJP Events has had the pleasure to plan and coordinate. You'll see a wide range of wedding styles, from the casual backyard dinner dance to a simply elegant golf course wedding. Sometimes the ceremony is outdoors; sometimes the reception; and sometimes both. We hope you find lots of ideas and inspiration for your own outdoor wedding ceremony and reception. cover photo courtesy BMAC Photography.
